Does arc 8.1 deal with .e00 files directly? Will it readily convert to >.shp and dxf? > >2. I have a client that wishes to convert .e00 to dxf format. She does not >currently own arc view. Are there any softwares available that could perform >this conversion? Are they costly or free? ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Replies- Margaret Gooding - you might try to find a script or utility on the geo communities web site. I have found many useful utilities there in the past: http://www.geocomm.com/ **** I found a great review of the Manifold software here. Bob Ballard - Manifold 5.0 will do these conversions and do more than ArcInfo for only $250. www.manifold.net Dean Carstens - ArcGIS can convert .e00 files to a readable format, by using the ArcToolbox "module" of the package. In ArcToolbox there are a lot of tools, for instance to convert from shapefile to .e00 and lots of other formats. You can also assign projections. I've taken a look at the specific route she should take to get to .dxf from .e00 and it seems she'll have to go through something else first like .e00 to geodatabase and then to .dxf, but it's possible. Enrique Fernandez - Blue marble Geographic's http://www.bluemarblegeo.com They have what they call the Geographic translator, but it is not free. David J.
